Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Tax Tommy is an independent comparison platform that connects individuals with licensed IRS tax relief professionals. We are not affiliated with the IRS, the federal government, or any government agency. Our website is taxtommy.com. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@taxtommy.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in two ways:
Information you give us directly
- Contact details you provide when requesting cost estimates (name, email, phone number)
- Your approximate tax debt range and the type of tax issue you are facing
- Information provided by firms that list on Tax Tommy (name, business address, credentials, email, phone)
Information collected automatically
- Pages visited, links clicked, and time spent on pages (via anonymous analytics)
- Your approximate geographic location based on IP address (used only to surface relevant state-based firms)
- Browser type, device type, and referring URL
- Advertising interaction data if you arrive via a Meta or Google ad (see Section 7)
3. How we use your information
- To match you with relevant tax relief firms based on your case type and location
- To forward your contact details to the specific firm(s) you select, so they can provide a personalised cost estimate. We share your details only with firms you explicitly choose.
- To improve the performance, relevance, and quality of our platform
- To send you administrative emails (e.g. if you create a portal account)
- To comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Sharing your information with firms
When you click "Get Costs" and submit your details, Tax Tommy transmits your name, email address, phone number, and approximate debt range directly to the tax relief firm(s) you selected. Each firm receives only the details of users who have specifically selected them.
Firms listed on Tax Tommy are independent businesses. Once your details are shared with a firm, that firm's own privacy policy governs how they handle your information. We recommend reviewing their privacy policy before providing additional information directly to the firm.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use the following types of cookies and tracking technologies:
- Essential cookies: Required for the site to function (e.g. session management, form state)
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site. Data is aggregated and anonymous where possible.
- Advertising pixels: If you arrive via a Meta (Facebook/Instagram) or Google ad, those platforms may place a tracking pixel on this site to measure ad performance and allow us to retarget visitors who did not complete a form. This is standard practice for digital advertising.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some features (e.g. saving your details for repeat visits) may not work if cookies are disabled.
6. Data retention
We retain enquiry data (name, email, debt range) for up to 24 months to allow firms to follow up and for us to measure platform performance. Firm account data is retained for as long as the firm is listed. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.
7. Advertising on Meta and Google
Tax Tommy may advertise on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. These ads are targeted based on:
- Publicly available interest categories (e.g. financial services, tax topics)
- Custom audiences built from anonymised email lists or site visitor data (where platform policies permit)
- Lookalike audiences modelled on our existing user base
We do not share personally identifiable information with Meta or Google for targeting purposes beyond what is permitted by their respective advertising policies and applicable law. You can opt out of interest-based advertising on Meta and Google.
Advertising disclosure: Tax Tommy lists are paid placements. Verified Partner and Premium Partner firms pay a monthly subscription to appear more prominently. Listed Partner (free) firms appear in a rotation. Placement is not a personal recommendation and does not constitute an endorsement of any firm's services or results.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format)
California residents: under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell personal data). To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@taxtommy.com.
9. Children's privacy
Tax Tommy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
